Serie A: Palermo vs Lazio 0-1, 31 Nov 2010

Uruguayan goalkeeper Fernando Muslera was invincible in today's Serie A game. Palermo dominated the game, but Lazio managed to score the opening goal. Thanks to the defense the good result was kept and Lazio extended their lead at the top of the Serie A table.

Muslera was really great. Despite all efforts of Palermo's players and no matter what they did, Lazio's goalkeeper was always on the place to stop the shot. He made 8 saves, including two crucial ones in the last minutes of the game.

Handball, Euro 2012 qualifiers: Poland vs Ukraine 23-15, 28 Nov 2010

Polish national handball team started the Euro 2012 qualifications well and registered the first victory. Although they did struggle a bit with Ukraine defence in the first half, they almost completely dominated the game in the second. Good defence helped to keep the advantage, and Polish goalkeeper, Sławomir Szmal, made a lot of great saves.

Piotr Wyszomirski substitued Sławomir Szmal near the end of the second half, and played the last 11 minutes. He started from making a great save.

Polish coach, Bogdan Wenda

Karol Bielecki was back to the team. He suffered a severe eye injury during a friendly match against Croatia in June. Despite the surgeries his left eye remained blind. Although he officially announced the end of his career, he changed his mind a few days later and decided to continue playing. Now he uses special goggles.

Unfortunately no photo of the Polish goalies from the game. So, a photo from Euro 2010.

World Cup 2006 Goalkeeper Saves video

This is just great. Another video made by YT user LCTrussell1992Media, showing the best saves of World Cup 2006.

So many great saves of Ricardo! It was his best tournament for sure. Wish Portugal had made to the final.

Liked also Buffon's saves. Amazing double save in 0:38-0:43. And Artur Boruc. Remember him especially from the very dramatic match against Germany. He proteced Polish goal sucessfully for 90 minutes. In 91' Germany scored...

Goalkeepers in the video: Roberto Abbondanzieri (Argentinia), Fabien Barthez (France), Aldo Bobadilla (Paraguay), Artur Boruc (Poland), Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Iker Casillas (Spain), Petr Cech (Czech Republic), Nelson Dida (Brazil), Shaka Hislop (Tinidad and Tobago), Dragoslav Jevrić (Serbia and Montenegro), Oliver Kahn (Germany), Kasey Keller (USA), Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi (Japan), Jens Lehmann (Germany), Ricardo (Portugal), Paul Robinson (England), Oswaldo Sánchez (Mexico), Mark Schwarzer (Australia), Edwin Van Der Sar (The Netherlands), Lee Woon-Jae (South Korea).

Copa del Rey: Real Murcia vs Real Madrid 0-0, 26 Oct 2010, video highlights

Watched Real Murcia - Real Madrid match at Tuesday. Wanted to focus on Casillas, of course, as I haven't seen him for a while in action, but I'm not sure if he had to make a single save in this game. Probably not. The whole show belonged to Dani Hernández, Real Murcia's goalkeeper.

It's not like Real Madrid didn't tried to score. They tried everything but all their efforts were either unsucessful or stopped by Murcia's goalkeeper. He made a lot of great saves. Liked the most the double one, when he deflected Cristiano Ronaldo's shot first, and the retake (showed in the highlights at 8:40). A man of the match, no doubt about this.

Real Madrid is a very unfortunate team, when it comes to Copa del Rey. They were eliminated two times in the row on 1/16 finale stage. In both cases they lost against Segunda Division 'B' clubs. Is the story going to repeat again?

No photos from the game with goalies, but I've found a video with long highlights, with all important actions and saves.

Watch the video highlights:

Tomorrow Poland - Ukraine qualifier match for European Handball Championship. Love watching this sport. So dynamic and interesting to follow. Polish national team is one of the best. But what's the most important - in this game there are goalkeepers too.

Premier League: Machester City vs Arsenal 0-3 24 Oct 2010, photos and video highlights

Watched today Manchester City vs Arsenal game. It was an excellent performance of Łukasz Fabiański. He kept clean sheet and made important saves. The first one was at the very beginning of the game, when David Silva tried his luck. However, Fabiański was prepared and showed a good reflex.

One of Machester City's players was send with a red card after a few minutes of the game, so Arsenal had a man advantage and made a good use of that, quickly scoring the opening goal.

The situation of Manchester City became even worse, when Arsenal was awareded a penalty. But Joe Hart, Manchester City's goalie made a good guess and performed an excellent save! Seems that a few more Premier League matches watched and I'm going to have another favorite goalie ;)

Both goalkeepers made 4 saves each.

Nice to read positive reviews of Fabiański's performance, both on English and Polish sports pages. He played six games in the row in the starting 11 and did fine, but I think that when Manuel Almunia will recover, he will be back in the goal.

A few photos with Joe Hart

Goalkeeper Saves Vol. 2

The second volume of goalkeeper saves, a video made by YT user LCTrussell1992Media.

Quite a lot saves from this year World Cup.

Some of my all-time favorites are put in this video, including the "knee-save" of Diego Benaglio and Tim Howard's double save from Aston Villa - Everton game.

Bad luck

Watched two last games of Everton. Seems that I betrayed Serie A for the Premier League at this season. So far I managed to see Genoa's and Lazio's games only once, and watched Inter - Tottenham Chempions League last Wednesday, but that's all. Instead of following Eduardo, Muslera or Julio Cesar I try to catch Tim Howard's games.

Everton's match against Liverpool last Sunday was fine, they finally advanced in the table. The derby was interesting to watch and Tim Howard did very well - made 6 saves.

And today... Well, unfortunately, Everton draw a game they could win. This time it was Howard who commited a mistake. He misjudged a cross and Tottenham didn't waste the opportunity, scored an equalizer just a three minutes after Everton's opening goal.

As usuall there is no photos with the goalkeeper from the Everton - Liverpool game, but from the one he has a blunder on his account.

Essam El-Hadary picspam

Planned to do this picspam a long time ago as El-Hadary is one of my favorite goalies.

Essam Kamal Tawfik El-Hadary is an Egyptian goalkeeper. He represented his country 123 times and win with his team African Cup of Nations four times. He started his career in Damietta and played also for Al-Ahly, FC Sion and Ismaily. His current club is Zamalek SC.

He is very devoted when it comes to defending the goal, and one of the best games I've seen was Italy - Egypt at the Confederation Cup, when El-Hadary did everything what he could and succesfully stopped Italy from scoring a goal, which helped Egypt to keep the good result and win that game 0-1.

His nickname is "The High Dam".

El-Hadary usually preforms sajdah of thankfulness after his team scores a goal, as most of the Egyptian players.
